Make Your Voice Heard!

Book banning efforts in public libraries, public school libraries, and libraries in academic institutions continue to gain traction across the country. These efforts threaten our freedom to read and the freedom of parents to make their own decisions about their child’s education.

In the January 2026 New Mexico legislative session, three bills aim to prevent book banning, sponsored by Representative Kathleen Cates, Senator Harold Pope, and Senator Antoinette Sedillo- Lopez.

Act now to insure these bills are on the agenda for consideration by contacting Governor Lujan Grisham and your legislators
before December 31st.

The Governor sets the agenda for the 30-day session starting January 5, 2026.
