Part Time LENA Start Program Coordinator
The LENA (Language ENvironment Analysis) Start Program Facilitator is a temporary contract position with the Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library. Responsibilities include co-facilitation of LENA Start classes for parents taught virtually and/or in-person. This position facilitates a ten-week class series and provides support at related programs. LENA Start is an evidence-based program for caregivers of children ages 0-36 months that provides support and resources for encouraging a child’s development through quality talk and interaction. Using LENA technology, caregivers receive feedback and learn simple ways to add talk into daily routines.
Essential Functions
â–ª Completion of required LENA Start trainings.
â–ª Prepares and facilitates weekly, hour-long parent sessions for 10-week program series (virtually and/or in-person).
â–ª Enters program data.
â–ª Sends LENA reports weekly and provides detailed report feedback to caregivers.
â–ª Promptly answers caregiver questions and works with Santa Fe Public Library Youth Programs Manager to provide additional information as needed.
â–ª Facilitates orientation and graduation preparation, event setup, and teardown, including creating and printing graduation certificates, and inventorying and organizing incentives and informational materials for participants.
â–ª Lifts items up to 30 lbs. and uses carts and dollies to transport materials between libraries and other community spaces
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Duties are considered non-essential and include the following:
â–ª Supports Santa Fe Public Library Youth Programs Manager with other LENA-related tasks as they arise.
â–ª Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The right candidate is expected to perform or possess the following:
â–ªKnowledge of early childhood developmental stages.
â–ª Spanish-speaking ability is preferred.
â–ª Knowledge of the resources provided by the Santa Fe Public Library, its partners, and the City of Santa Fe.
â–ª Advanced knowledge of Zoom virtual meeting platforms and facilitating virtual meetings.
â–ª Demonstrates ability to effectively use applications software, including Microsoft365, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and
Outlook, along with standard office equipment.
â–ª Ability to save and attach documents to email messages and create hyperlinks.
â–ª Demonstrates excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills; builds and maintains effective relationships with patrons, coworkers, and with staff at all levels.
â–ª Ability to get along with co-workers and supervisors.
â–ª Has regular on-time attendance.
â–ª Exercise professionalism and good judgement in interpersonal interactions.
â–ª Ability to work independently and effectively organize daily work under general supervision.
â–ª Demonstrates ability to exhibit professional judgment and demeanor in public interactions; thinks and acts appropriately under pressure.
Education and Experience:

An associate’s degree in early childhood education, or related experience or education.

Requires a background in early childhood education and/or experience working with young children and families.

Experience working with children 0-36 months.

Bilingual ability is a plus in serving a diverse community.

Access to reliable transportation.
